The Renaissance

For the first source, I chose the life of Leonardo da Vinci, to answer the questions; when I was riding through this source, I found it intriguing that Through his understanding of art, Leonardo started many things and did not complete any of them, because, for him, items could only be carried out by the hand, not the writing alone, because he imagined difficulties that could never be expressed by the hands, no matter how excellent they were. He spent so much time philosophizing and thinking about natural things that he sought to discover the properties of herbs, even observing the movement of the heavens, the moon's path, and the sun's course. The text mentions how he remained very ill for several months and, feeling almost certain of death, requested to be informed of the teaching of the Catholic faith and the excellent way and holy Christian religion. Then, with many moans, he confessed to God and was penitent, and even though he could not get up on his own, he was glad to take out of his bed the holiest Sacrament with great devoutness. His frequent and loving visits from the King brought him into the room; therefore, the King, of reverence, made himself rise and sat upon the bed, telling the King about his illness and the circumstances of it, and telling him how much he had grieved both God and humanity for not working hard enough at his art. As a result, he began to experience spasms, the messengers of death, and for this reason, the King, having risen, took his head, to ensure his survival and to show him a favor, had him executed For the second source, Niccolò Machiavelli (1469-1527): after reading this text about Founding a Republic, it is possible that some might feel that he has gone into too much detail about Roman history without making any mention about the Founders of that Republic, her institutions, religion, or military capability. In support of his position, we can look to Moses, Lycurgus, Solon, and other founders of monarchies and republics who were able to establish laws suitable for the general good by retaining an exclusive power. Still, these are all well-known so he won't mention them further. Ultimately, Romulus concluded that to found a republic, one must be alone and that Tatius and Remus should not be blamed for Romulus' death
