For me, spirituality is a broad concept that can be interpreted in many ways. It is characterized by a sense of connection to God which is something bigger than ourselves, as well as a search for meaning in life. After reading the primary sources, focusing on Ignatius's letter and the Didache, some characteristics of early Christian spirituality that every source has in common is the spiritual life after death, Ignatius’ letter talks about how you shouldn't focus on “All the pleasures of the world, and all the kingdoms of this earth shall profit me nothing” every ancient Christian had this characteristic, the belief of an afterlife, where we will meet God and live forever if we follow the principles of Christianity and JesusChrist. Another characteristic of early Christianity are Grave sins, in the source “The Didache”, we can see how the second commandment talks about grave sins, God tells us that “You shall not commit murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not commit pederasty, you shall not commit fornication, you shall not steal, you shall not practice magic, you shall not practice witchcraft, you shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill that which is born”. All of these are characteristics of early Christianity and every Christian knows about these grave sins nowadays.
